Complete Guide on Ballybunion Hole by hole

Championship tees 6542yd, par 71, SSS72. Medal tees 6201yd, par 71, SSS 70. Forward tees 5923yd, par 71, SSS 68.

1st hole
(Champ 392yd Medal 366yd Par 4) Beware the graveyard to the right of the tee and the mid fairway bunkers. Avoid missing the green to the left.

2nd hole
(Champ 445yd Medal 394yd Par 4) A generous fairway but don't under club your approach to the plateau green.

3rd hole
(Champ 220yd Medal 211yd Par 3) Take care you don't hook off the tee - the road left is out of bounds. Use a club more than it looks.

4th hole
(Champ 498yd Medal 490yd Par 5) An easy par 5 but avoids a slice with your drive or second shot. The green is huge - note carefully the flagy position.

5th hole
(Champ 508yd Medal 489yd Par 5) Keep clear of the out of bounds fence to the right and mid fairway bunkers - some are hidden.

6th hole
(Champ 364yd Medal 344yd Par 4) Play your drive as close as possible to the out of bounds wall right to give a clear shot at the 46yd (42m) long, narrow green. The ground slopes away steeply on both sides.

7th hole
(Champ 423yd Medal 400yd Par 4) Watch out - the green is on the cliff edge with trouble on the other side as well.

8th hole
(Champ 153yd Medal 134yd Par 3) There's little trouble at the back so play one more than you think.

9th hole
(Champ 454yd Medal 430yd Par 4) Keep your drive well left to give you a chance of holding this long narrow green with a treacherous fall away to the left.

10th hole
(Champ 359yd Medal 336yd Par 4) Avoid the deep gully just short of the green but don't over club - there's out of bounds behind.

11th hole
(Champ 449yd Medal 400yd Par 4) You must hit a good drive to have any hope of getting home in 2.

12th hole
(Champ 192yd Medal 179yd Par 3) It's all carry to the plateau green so use enough club. Don't go right - a deep ravine awaits the slice.

13th hole
(Champ 484yd Medal 480yd Par 5) The burn crosses the fairway 70yd (64m) from the front of the green. Unless you can get up in 2 play short of the water.

14th hole
(Champ 131yd Medal 125yd Par 3) This requires a very precise iron, usually a 7 or 8. Again, it's advisable to be up.

15th hole
(Champ 216yd Medal 207yd Par 3) Judge the wind carefully - it can vary from a full driver to a 4 or 5 iron.

16th hole
(Champ 490yd Medal 482yd Par 5) Go for accuracy rather than distance.

17th hole
(Champ 385yd Medal 368yd Par 4) It's usually safe to play a driver from the tee - the prevailing wind is against.

18th hole
(Champ 379yd Medal 366yd Par 4) Choose your club with care - the second is entirely blind across a vast area of sand called Sahara.
