FOUR HOLES TO WATCH

12th hole - Golden Bell
(Champ 155yd Par 3)

This is the second of three difficult holes that make up the famous Amen Corner -which has dashed many a Masters player's hopes. It's a tricky hole to play as you cannot feel the strength of the wind when you weigh up your shot on the tee.

There are two common mistakes to avoid. The first is not selecting the right club, so the ball falls short into the creek. Another problem occurs if the ball lands on the bank behind the green. From there your best bet is to leave the chip or bunker shot short - it's all too easy to run past the hole into the water.

 13th hole - Azalea
(Champ 465yd Par 5)

This short par 5 is a dog-leg which turns left quite sharply. Try to follow this line with your tee shot to shorten the hole and give yourself a flat lie for your second shot. If your tee shot goes right, you have a side hill to contend with.

With your second, either play safely short of the creek which swings across the front and right of the green, or try for a birdie by clearing Rae's Creek. Take care when the pin is at the front of the green - you have a narrow margin to clear the water.

15th hole - Fire Thorn
(Champ 500yd Par 5)
Your tee shot can go a long way off line without getting into trouble, but you're better off trying for a shot from the right of the fairway to find the green.

Don't go for the green in 2 - lay up short of the pond and chip in for 3.

If the wind is behind you, it's difficult to hold the green, especially when the flag is on the left where the green is shallow. It's risky to putt from the back of the green -the ball could run down the slope into the pond.

16th hole - Red Bud
(Champ 170yd Par 3)

Most of the fairway is covered by a lake, making it difficult to judge the distance to the green. Another danger is the three bunkers which surround the green. But the contours of the green pose the real threat on this hole.

Take your time and try to judge your shots accurately. Hit your tee shot hard to clear the lake and reach the green.
