Pine Valley Hole by hole

Championship tees: 6765yd, Par 70, USGA Rating 73.

1st hole
(Champ 427yd Par 4) You must hit a long drive to the corner of the dog-leg to leave yourself a decent approach to the green.

2nd hole
(Champ 367yd Par 4) Nothing but your best tee shot will do - the carry over scrub to the fairway is almost 180yd (165m).

3rd hole
(Champ 185yd Par 4) Aim to the right half of the green as it slopes sharply from right to left.

4th hole
(Champ 461yd Par 4) Hit a big drive to make certain of clearing the sandy patch of waste ground short of the green with your second.

5th hole
(Champ 226yd Par 3) Be straight or a big score stares you in the face.

6th hole
(Champ 391yd Par 4) Don't bite off more than you can manage from the tee at this sharp dog-leg right - if you miss the fairway your second is very difficult.

7th hole
(Champ 585yd Par 5) If you hit a poor drive you must lay up short of Hell's Half Acre - you have no chance of clearing the mass of scrub with your second.

8th hole
(Champ 327yd Par 4) Make sure your approach is below the flag - the green slopes alarmingly from back to front.

9th hole
(Champ 432yd Par 4) Don't overshoot the green -whichever one the flag is on -as there is a large drop at the back.

10th hole
(Champ 145yd Par 3)
Your tee shot has to be accurate - trees at the back and bunkers all round swallow any wayward shot.

11th hole
(Champ 399yd Par 4)
Aim down the left for the best line into the green.

12th hole
(Champ 382yd Par 4)
Drive down the right to leave a clear path for your second.

13th hole
(Champ 446yd Par 4) Because the green is tucked away behind a patch of dead ground, your approach must carry all the way if you're to reach in 2.

14th hole
(Champ 185yd Par 3) Choose enough club - there are no prizes for being short. Thick scrub, water and sand are the dangers.

15th hole
(Champ 603yd Par 5) Don't be intimidated by the water in front of the tee. Once you've cleared the lake settle for a steady par at this monster hole.

16th hole
(Champ 436yd Par 4)
Hit your best drive - the carry is long to the small island fairway.

17th hole
(Champ 344yd Par 4) Check your yardages for the second shot - the sandy stretch of ground in front of the green can be deceiving to the eye.

18th hole
(Champ 424yd Par 4) Even though the carry from the tee is about 170yd (155m), the hardest part of playing this hole is negotiating the subtle slopes of the massive green.
