An Overview on Short cut
The one serious weakness of the layout is the 18th. Nothing more than a drive and pitch with only the top of the flag visible on the second, it is little more than a short cut back to the clubhouse after the drama of the previous two holes. Indeed Cypress Point was once described as the best 17 hole course in the world.
Since it opened in 1928 only insignificant changes have been made. A few tees have been moved, a green remodeled, but nothing else.
Thought of as a course built for] presidents, Cypress has hosted Dwight Eisenhower, who was a regular player, John F Kennedy and Gerald Ford. Members include Laurence Rockefeller, Leonard Firestone and local resident Clint Eastwood.
